Script Writing
I added a new page to my blog. For Love or Brains is my first draft for the short screenplay I wrote for Script Writing class. Read if you wish your eyes to bleed.

Too Many Ideas!
So I'm having too much fun designing my characters for my discovery project. I have about 20 pages of sketches in various stages of completion and NONE of my landscapes done yet. a couple weeks left and I really need to get a move on.
I have a few more boxes left to pack for my move and a few pieces of furniture to dismantle. De-cluttering my life is therapeutic right now. Cleaning out old boxes of things I have moved around from apartment to apartment I have found many items that bring back memories, but most of it I am tossing out not only to make the move easier but alot of this clutter I have kept for years without using. It's time to

Time of the Wolf
So, It's finally time to work on the sketches for the Wolf in my discovery project. I saved him till now because I have a feeling he is going to be fun to design. I have a few ideas so lets see how many will work out. I still haven't added much to my second landscape in Photoshop so I have to get back working on that.
I've put off life drawing for a couple days now, but the project is not due until the end of the week. The last step is to draw myself into the environment of my choosing. I won't come out and say how I felt about that job but I chose to draw the picture in black and white with harsh contrast. So I'll allow you to take from that what you will.
So, it finally happened. I was watching a movie with some friends the other day and I started talking about camera angles, how shots were framed, etc. I officially have become one of "those people" I hoped I wouldn't become. I bored my friends to tears, I'm sure of it.

Busy busy
Started working on a new scene for my Discovery project and I think this one is going to be alot better than my first. At least I am hoping so. 2D class really helped with this assignment. Still have to do some basic sketches for the wolf. I am moving in two weeks so I'm not getting as much work done as I'd like to, but still optimistic that I can get everything finished.
I must remember to add sound to my After Effects project this weekend and also finish off my Life Drawing. I also have to do some research on Russian Constructvisim for A&C and possibly try and get a group meeting with the other members of my team. I am thankful that this term has less projects due per week since Discovery and packing seems to take up all of my time.

Weekend
Spent all day working on my Discovery project and I feel like burning it. I am making some progress but working with Photoshop to actually draw is driving me crazy. I do notice some improvement but too slow for my liking. If I could draw the entire project by hand it would be close to done by now, but that would take the challenge out of this "discovery" project.
I decided to do my basic sketches in photoshop too just for added challenge, and I'm designing the environment before I finish the characters, just to help with helping them look like they actually BELONG in the environment.
Anyways, short entry today, I need to eat.

Discovery Project 2.0
Yesterday I pitched my Discovery project to the class and a group of teachers. It seemed to go over well. I began the basic sketches on my versions of Little Red Ridinghood today in between many cups of coffee. This was the easiest part because I had images stuck in my head for a few days now and all I had to do was put them down on paper. Once I start designing the landscapes I expect I will be having a bit more difficulty, but also a lot more fun.
So I downloaded a bunch of new brushes on Photoshop and now I am wasting too much time playing around with them. I am making some neat effects but it really is not helping with my project. I also started fooling around with Maya again. Again, as far as time management goes, it's just not helping.
Limiting myself to two characters and one landscape is annoying me more and more as I come up with random ideas I want to work on, but if i don't stick with this i know I'm going to run out of time. Maybe once I finish with this project I might continue with it just for fun.
I think I'm going to finish the rest of my basic sketches on Photoshop to help me get used to it when I work on the finals. I took the time to learn blending and editing photos but until now I haven't learned basic painting skills in this program. Hopefully once this term is done I'll be as competent in drawing in Photoshop as I am with paper and pencil.
Tomorrow I'm going to work on images of the Wolf. I have a couple ideas on how to design him. Some are more cartoonish, while others hyper-realistic and anthropomorphic. Most are wild looking but I have one idea for a more sophisticated look that will be fun to design.
Anyways that is as far as I have gotten today. Slow to start but I'll speed up as I go along. Hopefully I'll have something to show here soon.

Discovery Project
The most annoying part of my Discovery project was deciding on an idea. I decided on borrowing a concept from The Skilful Huntsman where a group of digital artist students came together to do concept art for a Grimm Fairytale. Once I decide on a Grimm Fairytale of my own I will then choose a couple characters and landscapes to work on. Since I am going into Game Design next year I'm going to put a bit of a twist on this idea by designing these characters and landscapes as levels and character designs for video games of different types, possibly Role-playing Game, Real Time Strategy, and First Person Shooter.
I think I might design these for specific games. I will probably decide on a Final Fantasy style for RPG, Starcraft II style for RTS, and Halo or Gears of War style for FPS. I want to do different eras or genres for each of the gaming styles, Medieval, Futuristic, and Steam-Punk/Cyberpunk.
Finally, I am almost positive that I've decided on Little Red Ridinghood for my project. I have a couple ideas that will be fun to try out. Futuristic might be problematic for a story that takes place mainly in the forest, but I think I have a solution to that problem. I'll have to try it out...
The Characters I chose will be Little Red Ridinghood and the Wolf. The Grandmother would just be annoying to add to this, but if I have time I might add the Huntsman as well.
First step is rough sketches of the characters and the landscape to flesh them out a bit. Next step will be fully realized sketches. Final step I want to work with Photoshop to create both the characters and landscapes in gaming form.
So... yeah. That’s my idea. Let’s see how this works out.
